Yours or somebody else's. Open source, commercial, or a weekend project that does one thing properly — the licence has never been what decides it.
Every suggestion is read. Not every one becomes an article. That is the whole of the promise, and it belongs up here rather than in the small print.
Nothing you send is published. It lands in a private queue only I can see, and your project goes public only if I write about it.
I read every one.
There is no committee and no scoring sheet — I open the link, spend some time with whatever is on the other end, and see whether there is an article in it. How long that takes depends on how many arrived that week, and I am not going to invent a number for it. You will not hear from me at this stage unless you asked to.
Most of them stop here.
Not harshly, and usually for dull reasons: I could not get it running, it sits too close to something published a fortnight ago, or there was no link and I could not find one. Being small, unfinished, or commercial is not what stops a suggestion.
What gets through tends to be specific — software a reader could install this afternoon and be glad they did.
It gets written, and it goes out.
Every suggestion is researched before an article is written. I go through what the project publishes about itself, the repository, the documentation, the release notes, the home page, and the article is built from what that turns up.
If you left an address, you get exactly one message on the day it goes live. Then the address is deleted.
